Welcome to County Acrobatics & Pure Joy Dance, where the joy of movement meets the beauty of Prince Edward County (PEC). Nestled in this picturesque locale, we offer a vibrant array of classes designed to inspire and nurture dancers from ages 2 to adult.

 

Our programs span acrobatics, ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, vaulting barrel, creative movement and more, catering to both recreational and competitive dancers.

Founded by the passionate and talented Hollie, our studio is a haven where children can explore their love for dance and acrobatics in a supportive and joyful environment. Joining Hollie are our dedicated instructors Katy, Melody, Emie, Nicole           and Bella each bringing their unique expertise and                            enthusiasm to our classes.

At County Acrobatics & Pure Joy Dance, we believe that every child deserves a space to shine. Our three studio rooms, aptly named the Joy Room, Smile Room and the Friend Room, reflect our commitment to creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Whether your child is taking their first steps in our Beginners class or perfecting their skills in our Intermediate/Advanced groups, our classes,  provide the perfect balance of fun and challenge.

Our talented and dedicated team at CA & PJD brings a wealth of experience and passion to each class. Led by founder Hollie Graham, our instructors specialise across multiple dance styles. Together, they create a nurturing and dynamic environment for all our students.

Hollie Graham

Founder

Hollie began dancing when she was 3 years old and was still dancing in to her 30s. Hollie obtained her Advanced 2 & Grade 7 Ballet in the Royal Academy of Dance, Elementary Ballet in the Society of Russian Ballet  and many tap & jazz exams. She danced both competitively and semi-professionally. Hollie danced for small companies in Ontario and preformed in Ballet Ouest de Montreal's Nutcracker for 5 years.  She has been teaching ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pointe, musical theatre, acrobatics, contemporary and more for 25 years at many dance studios throughout Ontario. Hollie owned and ran her own studio for 5 years. She has entered students into exams, competitions, many shows and productions. Hollie attended the University of Ottawa and graduated in Human Kinetics. She is certified through Acrobatic Arts and trained through Vault Canada in Vaulting. (Acrobatics on Horseback). Hollie loves to share her joy of dance and looks forward to all of the fun and learning!

Melody Burrill

Studio Manager + Dance Instructor

At an early age, after watching the famous movie, 'Singing in the Rain', Melody Burrill (Tyas) was bitten by the musical theatre bug. She began her dance training with Anne Ritchie and Brenda Bond in Picton, then went on to lessons at Quinte Ballet School and Ireland Academy of Dance in Belleville. In her final year of high school, she also taught dance in Picton. After graduation, Melody attended the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto and upon returning to Picton, kept up her training with classes at a variety of studios. Melody has experience in musical theatre, jazz and tap, as well as ballet and highland dance. She is excited to share her love of the arts!

Katy Guthenberg (Miss Katy)

Miss Katy has been dancing for as long as she can remember.  A former competitive dancer herself, she went on to freelance teach and choreograph at studios across the province for nearly a decade, before opening her own studio in 2010. Her teams competed at the provincial, national and international levels - participating in such events as the International Dance Organization's World Championship in Europe, the Toronto International Dance Festival and even performing at halftime for the Toronto Raptors!  In 2018 Miss Katy felt called in a new direction - she returned to school, completing her Bachelor of Education at Trent University, and pursued her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. Her journey has led her to Prince Edward County. She now lives in Picton and teaches Grade 6 at PECI.

Jasmin Lester

Aftercare Program Coordinator

Jasmin began teaching in her teens as a swimming instructor and went on to facilitate community events of all kinds for the last 24 years. Trained in Kundalini Dance and Creative Movement her focus is on helping people of all ages and capabilities become comfortable in their body. After 20 years running her own business in the healing arts, she moved on to facilitate programs for children at an outdoor school in British Columbia. until recently returning home to The County where it all began. Jasmin is happy to join the team at County Acrobatics and Pure Joy Dance where she can put her knowledge of movement together with her experience of land based learning into an interactive program for children.

Nicole Matthieu

Dance Instructor

With over 11 years of experience in competitive dance education, Miss Nicole is a passionate instructor specialising in acro, ballet, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, and contemporary dance. Known for creating a positive and disciplined learning environment, she is dedicated to helping dancers build strong technical foundations while fostering confidence, artistry, and performance excellence.

Miss Nicole began her coaching journey in gymnastics over 25 years ago and has since built an extensive background in athlete development and movement training. At just 18 years old, she earned her Associate in Acro teaching designation through the British Association of Teachers of Dancing, marking the beginning of her professional dance teaching career. She has continued to expand her education through Acrobatic Arts, completing both Levels 1 and 2 certification in acrobatic dance training.

In addition to her dance qualifications, Miss Nicole holds coaching certifications in artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline. Her diverse coaching background provides students with a strong understanding of body awareness, flexibility, strength, conditioning, coordination, and injury prevention. This unique combination of dance and athletic training allows her to offer a well-rounded approach to technical development and performance training.

Beyond the studio, Miss Nicole has extensive experience in dry land conditioning and athletic preparation for competitive hockey and figure skating teams, focusing on strength, agility, balance, and overall athletic performance. She has also coached cheerleading at both the recreational and high school competitive levels, further expanding her expertise in teamwork, performance training, conditioning, and athlete development across multiple disciplines.

Throughout her career, Miss Nicole has worked with competitive dancers and athletes of all ages and skill levels, emphasizing proper technique, versatility, discipline, and personal growth. Her teaching philosophy combines encouragement with high standards, inspiring students to achieve their full potential in a supportive and motivating environment.
